has been mentioned by the Director of P.W. There should

be no difficulty in passing lighters and other mall craft

in and out of Entrances in the quay Wall in any ordinary

weather.

The suggested slipway for small craft might

preferably be placed at the Repair Basin.

It would doubtless be convenient to have a

coal-discharging berth and coal-stacking ground for

Island needs on the North Foint Reclamation, but I agree

with the Consulting Engineers that this should be

supplementary to a main coaling yard with direct railway

communication in Hung Hom Bay.

10. 11. Hung Hom Bay Development.

With regard to the second subject, viz. that

of a possible modification of the proposed lay-out of the Hung Hom Bay Development scheme, I have sketched on the

accompanying plan an amended arrangement of piers which seems to me feasible, and which provides, in addition to the accommodation shown in the Consulting Engineers' plan of 24/10/22, two deep-draft berths adjacent to the Kowloon Point property of Messrs. Alfred Holt & Co.

To effect this, the ship-basins have been

which I reduced in width from 400 ft. to 370 ft. consider amply sufficient and the piers from 260 ft. to 200 ft. The junk basins appeared to be slightly restricted, and have been shown as 150 ft. in width

instead of 140 ft.

The revised width of piers provides for quay spaces 40 ft. wide on the ship-basin side and 30 ft.

on the junk-basin side. The godowns are 130 ft. in width
